Tuesday Night

A son never forgets.

“In dreams we live in a world entirely our own.”
J.K. Rowling via Albus Dumbledore

I dreamed that I had a son the other night. I remember us moving around, me wanting to show him off. The thing was he was just like me. He looked like I did as a child. He was very expressive and he didn’t really cry at all. The only time he almost did I just talked to him and he chilled out. There are two things I really remember about him in the dream besides being a duplicate of me. I talked to him the whole dream and he didn’t talk back but he understood me. The other thing…he had yellow eyes. I mean like mine are brown his were yellow and it didn’t bother me at all. It seemed like he was looking right into me when he looked at me. Save that the pupils were round they reminded me of a cats eyes. Other than that I remember joking with him and he was laughing. I felt secure. It was like going somewhere with yourself. I knew what would happen. I knew what would be a problem and I could deal with it all. Only two things in the dream bothered me. Once he wasn’t with me and I kept looking to where he was until I finally just got up to get him. The second was some people talking about his eyes near the end of the dream. I heard someone say it was unusual and another commented that maybe he would go blind. I remember being assured that he was fine and these people were just running their mouths. I loved him in this dream. It was a really good feeling. Good enough to make me forget about the two before it. One where Tom Cruise was parading Katie Holmes around and I realized she was just a trophy wife. The other involved me going to a family reunion in boxers and being totally comfortable with it…I just couldn’t find the dessert I wanted. I get the family reunion joint…to a degree, but I’m still wondering where TomKat came from.

  2. hmmm…sometimes they say that if you dream about your children and they are doppelganger’s to you, you are really dreaming about yourself as a child or trying to recapture or relive some moment in time….i am concerned though that you dreamed that your child had cat eyes. did you drink any milk before you went to bed? :-)

  3. @ Nikki my man said the TomKat thing was telling me not to take a token wife. The reunion was about me being comfortable with a new role in my family. The last one…I can’t really remember what he said.

@Beloved I don’t even drink milk! I haven’t even had soymilk in a few months.

  4. i’ve learned that dreams of children, babies specifically, mean that there’s to be something new, a rebirth of sorts. and since your make believe baby had cat eyes, this new thing that’s to come into your life will probably have some kind of features to it that are similar to that of a cat. for instance - a new car that’s very sleek. corny right? i know, i know far too much about this nonsense, no need to mention it…

  7. I envy people who can remember their dreams. I hardly remember mine except that I know I had one. Other than that, it’s lights out all around. I liked the dream though man. YOu and your seed. How can anyone hate on that right?

  8. I read somewhere, pyschology book- a bagilion years ago, that if you drink water RIGHT when you wake up you are more likely to remember your dreams. Never tried it though…

For real though, yall know Tom Cruise is gay-er than a sack o damn kittens!

  9. I would say you are at a point of rebirth, confidence and renewal of energy. You’re ready, confident and willing to make some changes. The child could very well be something you’ve given birth to–yourself. He may represent your animus.

  11. Okay, I have no idea what dreams mean. But it sounds like it was a beautiful dream.

  12. I am so late but I read somewhere that children in dreams are ideas and concepts you have formed–it has a lot to do with creativity.

The eyes–dream dictionary says that has to do with vision, consciousness and clarity. I think this dream is very important and you should pay attention to how secure you felt, especially considering the doubt you have had with your current job. In addition, this may mean you have the confidence you need to strike out on your own with an idea that has been percolating for a while.
