Stupidity

Main Entry: stu·pid·i·ty
Pronunciation: stu-’pi-d&-tE, styu-
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural -ties
1 : the quality or state of being stupid
2 : a stupid idea or act

I’ve just come from an All Staff meeting. Best described as math class with a teacher that only calls on people who’s hands aren’t raised. It’s sometimes hard to grasp that not only are most people stupid, but most of these stupid people have important jobs. I face this fact once a month. I was just fussed at by a woman who repeated the exact same thing that I had just said. THE SAME THING. How can your argument against mine be my argument. Therefore despite the fact that I have pointed out what the issue was in the situation…the issue will continue. Because people were too busy making sure they didn’t take blame they never solved the problem. I don’t like adults…not much at all.

  2. I hear ya man: passing the buck sucks “it wasn’t my fault.. (insert name here) told me to do it this way”.

I can’t stand the idea of being (yet again) in an organization which doesn’t accpet its faults (regardless of who’s mistake it is) and just rectify the situation. I’m even further glad that for the moment, I’m still in the honeymoon phase where I work and don’t have this problem.

I wish I could give ya some magic jew to save you from this crap. But theres really not so much you can do when the company culture is “see no evil, speak no evil, do no evil”. On the other hand, it’s always fun in those situations to sit in the back of the conference room and draw funny cartoons of the idiots in compromising situations ;)

  5. ummm… i think i may have dated that guy in the picture. j/k! i’ve never experienced having an argument with someone who is supporting my same argument. bizarre. i think that you should secretly record a-day-in-the-life of such events & share. it would be priceless.

  7. I’ve been away from the blogosphere for awhile… glad to be back and to see that you haven’t missed a beat!
Just quote some comedian on one of those VH1 shows…
    “Stupid equals funny”

And this is why I sit in staff meetings, smirking and writing my name over and over again, for 45 minutes to an hour, until I hear those sweet words, “Okay, meeting adjourned.”
