I keep seeing something and it’s disturbing me. In fact it’s like a twisted version of the Women’s Rights movement. They may not want that association though. Anyway when I was in high school and into the early twenty double aught years (prospecters are cool) there were a multitude of very flashy gay men. I remember at my school there was like the (I can’t resist the rhyme scheme) Queer of the Year. Meaning every year a certain gay dude would be really popular based on the graduation of the last one. Well one of these cats on Halloween came dressed as a woman and was fooling ALOT of dudes. As a matter of fact we had fun at lunch that day checking to see which dudes were peeping him out like he was girl who had just transferred to our school. We even saw one dude try and talk to him. So from then on it seemed there was always a cross dressing gay dude some where in the city. Especially the infamous areas in Mt. Vernon…brrrrrrrrr. Now I don’t see as much of that, what I do see is a whole bunch of gay chicks with sports bras and wife beaters. The sports bra wouldn’t be so bad, but they only wear them to try and hide their breasts. I did get faked out one day, then I realized that dude was too skinny to have any fat on his chest. So today I come before you to say…what the hell?!?! Are gay women trying to catch up with gay men. Though it wasn’t easy I came to accept that every now and then I might see some dude dressed like a common ghetto whore. Now I keep seeing girls dressed like your average thug. Baseball hat, wifebeater (over sports bra) shorts and clean kicks. I swear this needs to stop. One of these girls ends up in the wrong place they could get popped. I remember my man talking about getting into a beef with one and I was thinking does she really want to be treated like a man in this situation? I’m all manners and etiquette, My momma, raised me good…but beyond a certain point it falls on me to treat you how you want to be treated. Since for some reason these chicks aren’t just happy looking like a man they want to act like them too. The problem there is they don’t really pick decent men, they pick the type of men that only understand losing teeth. The important thing to remember is…YOU ARE A WOMAN. No matter how you dress, talk or act. This is a P.S.A. Don’t get your ass whooped by mistake. I will feel bad, but that won’t help you in the moment. Be gay. That’s fine…but don’t forget what you are. You are not a man…you are a gay woman. Thank you and good day.
Interesting post. I just finished reading a book called Black Women’s Lives: Stories of Pain and Power by Kristal Brent Zook. She outlines the story of a young gay woman who dressed and acted like a dude. And she was killed in the street because of it. I think that these young women, while they identify with being like a dude and a thug (they always have tons of girls who they string along) when it comes to being in the street they may be treated like a man. And that can be dangerous for them.

Yeah, it’s just as dangerous as it is for men. It’s no more of a tragedy if a woman mistaken for a man gets killed as when a man mistaken for someone else gets killed.

But I’m needing for these ginger-gangstas to give us a break with the thug wear too. Even though I can tell a chick from a man anyday…it’s just annoying as fuck.

Reminds me of this court case on Judge Mathis I think. The lesbian was on there suing this dude that punched her in the mouth at a club. The lesbian jumped in his face for looking at her woman. And guess where they were from….the city that reads. LOL

i’ve seen a few who are downright scary in their thug wear but you are correct if ish went down they gotta “man up” cause if they acting like they wannabe then they gotta take what they get

what really disturbs me is just how desperate many of them look as they try to change their appearance so that they look like men. the homosexuality is cool, but why imitate men to that degree? is there really the sense that they’re men in a woman’s body? do they think that the only way they can naturally dig a woman is if they become a ‘man’?
or maybe they feel like society will be more accepting of them because those of us outside of the relationship are ‘fooled’ by the appearance of a ‘heterosexual’ couple? i ain’t sure, but i gotta admit to being afraid because i see more and more young sistas with this look.
it makes me wonder if its more based upon their life experiences…this choice…as opposed to the natural inclination towards being attractive to women.

@God’s Child - in some cases I don’t feel as bad for the men…specifically those who go to someones house under the pretense of being a woman and then…hello peter! I remember a guy here got killed like that. I can’t see me killing someone like that…but I can’t see my reaction being good.

@nikki - The funniest part is it’ll be two gay women both dressed like little thug dudes so it ends up looking like some gay thug dudes…too much.

hmmm…must be an east coast thing. I don’t see that shit here in chicago (and I have seen alot of freaky shit down here lemme tell you). Maybe these gals dressed like men that you refer to are showing an outward experssion of their inner desire to be not just a man, but THE man of the relationship. Unfortunately they are doing it in THE most retarded ways. Being a woman themselves, they should know ghetto gansta thugs get no love from a REAL woman anyway.
