It’s Gourmet Bitches!!!

“If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.”
J. R. R. Tolkien (1892 - 1973)
I like food. I don’t mean I just like to pig out, I mean I like various kinds of food. I enjoyed dating girls from various places so I could take their best recipes into my repertoire. I enjoy buying expensive things to cook with. Mind you in the last hellhole I called a home I stopped cooking as much…I felt like the kitchen was contaminated and I couldn’t work in those conditions. Now however I live somewhere that has various good smells throughout. Now I can begin to cook again. I went to Whole Foods recently and picked up a couple of things. On a side note: you do not go to Whole Foods to “make market”. I consider it the sexy market since people come there with their $50,000+ a year job clothes on. The last time I went I spent $50 and left with one paper bag that wasn’t even full. Of course I did spend $14 on a pound of Chilean Sea Bass. This stuff is fish-crack and it’s like buttah. If you never had it, find some. Anyway this week I plan to fix some Chicken Cutlets on a Baby Arugala Salad, it’s supposed to include marinated mushrooms, but I don’t feel like putting them joints in a jar for a week. Looked good when I saw it fixed and I’m going for it. I also have a tendency to watch cooking shows and retain the information very well. Therefore I have a plethora of recipes in my head. I refuse to go by the title “Foodie”. I will not be broken down into such a category. I’m just a man who likes gourmet eats…yes I just said gourmet eats. Seeing as how the kids in here have been loud and I’m having a long week…I will probably have two martinis when I get home tonight. Just holding the glass makes me feel better….sooo comforting. Anyway I’m planning what I’ll do with the Chilean Sea Bass (which is neither Chilean, nor Bass). Probably a pan searing or something of that nature. Share any ideas kids, I’m always open.
I chop some fresh plum tomatos (a good whole foods purchase) with some shallots, a few capers over pan seared chilean sea bass … simple and not too overwhelming for the fish. Foodie seems wrong sounds like you should be wearing it, I’m wearing my purple foodie today.

I’m going north in a couple of months to visit my family - a stop in B’more for a great meal sounds good…

Whole Foods huh? Seems like my wife has been hitting the very same spot man. Great cooking is the cornerstone of her finesse. I’ve gained 35.lbs alone since meeting her. And some of that good ol’ island food is her specialty. Here’s to her good tastes and yours brotha!

where am I? What day is it? two martinis huh, a minute ago you didn’t even drink martinis. I feel like I don’t even know this blog. And cooking? Gourmet? Who knew? Anything else you want to tell us while you’re at it? Like, maybe you once ran for congressman? And you really are a good friend of Sade’s?

Uh…here’s an idea…invite me over for (neither) Chilean (nor) bass.
Whole Foods is cool…but what you know about (the pride of my hometown) Wegmans!

Amadeo,
How’ve you been man? I haven’t been on your page for a minute but I see that you are keeping it 100. Whole Foods is my lady’s secret spot. She goes there to find a man that she can upgrade me with. Negro men in New York don’t fucks with the Whole Foods too tough. We grocery shop at Burger King and the bodega. I am stealing a post idea because of this drop. “What kinds of women you find in the supermarkets”. You get all the credit of course.
Peace Black man.

Yup. You’re a gastronome. Doesn’t that sound much sexier than “Foodie”? But ‘epicure’ sounds even better!
Anyway, don’t sleep on Trader Joe’s.
It’s like the low budget gourmet alternative to Whole Foods, non?
The rich/well to do (usually young stay at home moms who think they OWN the place, hippies with cash, and yuppies) who frequent the Whole Foods/Wild Oats closest to me, make me want to hate, so I go to Trader Joes… Best yet, I “make groceries” over the internet, and have them delivered.

Amadeo…
Pan Sear the Sea Bass in olive oil, shallots, white wine, and butter. Serve on a bed of sauteed spinach.
We are not foodie’s. We simply enjoy preparing and eating a good meal.
