Slow Burn

Dying to live?
“Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.”
Voltaire (1694 - 1778)

So as I look around at my city, the country and the world…I always come back to one thought. What will change this? Is there anything but time or utter ruin that will bring sufficient enlightenment to people? When will people live as whole? When will we stop lying to ourselves about the state of things? As much as I try to avoid the news, there is always something else that comes to my attention that confirms my belief in the fact that people are misguided. So I ask myself and I put this question to you all…what will it take? Is it all just a matter of time? As resources grow thing will people work to improve things or will they simply horde new fuels? Will people claim enlightenment and openness will harboring the fears bourne of ignorance? So much trouble in the world. Is the appreciation of little things simply a way to avoid facing the large problems that surround us or is it the only way to stay sane. Do you laugh to keep from crying? I see many fall into the maddness like leaves in the fall. As though it were a natural progression. I’m concerned with my financial state and when my car will need brakes and how the Ravens will do this year. All of these things are just clouds though. They are smoke that keeps my mind from the fire. What do you believe and what’s real to you?

  2. Do you know what’s real to me man? Cyberterrorism! Even though the term itself conjures up images of vicious terrorists that are unleashing catastrophic attacks against computer networks and wreaking havoc, and paralyzing nations. This is after all a very real and frightening scenario, but how “likely” is it to occur? Could anyone see terrorists cripple critical military, financial, and service computer systems? Or is it simply psychological, political, and even economic forces that have actually and somehow combined to promote the fear of cyberterrorism?

From a psychological perspective, two of the greatest fears of modern time are combined in the term “cyberterrorism.” The fear of random, violent victimization segues well with the distrust and outright fear of computer technology. But depending on your point of view man, many of these fears, are kinda exaggerated. As far as I know, there’s not even 1 single case of cyberterrorism recorded (to my knowledge).

I mean, hackers are always and regularly mistaken for terrorists (they are not), and cyberdefenses are more robust than is commonly supposed. But a scenario like Die Hard IV is not unlikely. Paranoia is the truth man. And it causes more destruction than anything else! That’s the real right there. Damn. I almost blogged a post up in here man. You know how Cage does!

  3. I believe that the media doesn’t help. And that people don’t care unless it directly causes them harm. I try to believe it will all pass and that we are good and compassionate by nature , of course some days I just can’t face all the negativity and avoid all outside contact as best as I can.
