I'm too much of a fanboy and found myself having to tone it down to see Star Trek after I had revved myself up so much to go see Wolverine. I don't know. I probably wouldn't have ever scene an effort worthy of my expectations. It made me feel good that alot of other people didn't find it good as well.

Loved the points you presented here. So many back stories on Wolverine's past. I recall the Romulus instigator having a paw in just about every major Wolverine arc (depending on if you're referring to the current continuity or the one depicted in the Ultimate universe.)

I'm a huge Byrne fan and I recall them wanting to make Sabretooth Wolverine's father. Bummer. Can you imagine what that would have been like if it had gone through. Who knows? His back story would have had one definitive aspect to it. Cool post bro.

Good post, man. I'm a bit up on Wolvie's continuity as well, and remember most of your points. My gripe with the movie was that they even saw fit to change the Origins origin story; I don't think they needed to change it at all to add dramatic flare. And they TOTALLY ruined the Deadpool character. I thought the early depiction of him in the Weapon X unit was cool, but they ruined it when they gave him a shitload of powers and made him unable to speak. Katana swords coming out of his hands? For real? That SUCKED! It ruined the experience for me, and probably for a lot of other fanboys as well.

I agree. That was the part that most comic book purists will bring up. I do think it makes for an effective storyline and will lead to good battles in the future. However, they never really explained why another man was raising Wolverine as his son and why Sabretooth was just hanging out there with them in the beginning of the movie. Hmmm.

Plot wise....this was the weakest one. The beauty of X-men for me is the constant struggle between the mutants between working with mankind or against mankind despite them being feared and persecuted. No emotional or political statement with this one....just action. Lots and lots of action.

However, their depiction of the mutants and their powers were great. I thought Deadpool, Sabretooth (much better casting than the previous movies), Agent Zero and Gambit were great.
